A NIGHT OF STARS AS WE CELEBRATE SACRED HEART SPORTING TALENT

This month we welcomed the return of the Sacred Heart Sports Celebration Evening and for 2023 it was even bigger and better than ever! Great British wheelchair basketballer Siobhan Fitzpatrick joined us for the event and handed out certificates, medals and trophies to the amazing sports stars of our school.

Siobhan represented Team GB in the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games and with the national team has won the silver medal at the 2018 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship, the bronze medal at the 2017 European Championships and the silver medal at the 2019 European Championships. As well as meeting all of our winners, she also shared her story with us and answered questions from the audience about her journey, what motivates her and how she stays injury-free and at the top of her game.

As well as rewarding the successes of our sports teams this year, the event was also an opportunity to congratulate our Sports Captains on their achievements and to recognise all the students who have made a commitment to sport through their attendance at extra-curricular clubs.

In the tradition of all good Sports Celebrations, we were also able to mark the dedication of a particularly committed and inspiring individual, Winter McTimmons, who received the accolade of Sports Personality of the Year!

A huge thank you to the PE department for all of their hard work in making this event happen.
