The Black History Book Club met this month with Rosanna Amaka, author of the novel 'Book of Echoes' via a Zoom call. The girls were really inspired by her and her motivations for writing - namely her own family connections to Jamaica, Nigeria and London, the three main settings of the novel.
We have decided on our next book: 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett; a novel set in Mississippi during the 1960s, at the time of the Black Civil Rights movement. Any girls in Years 10, 11, 12 or 13 who would like to join us should email Mrs Floyd to express their interest.
