This morning, Mrs Perry's friend Amity Muncey, who trained in Newcastle 30 years ago as a midwife, came to talk to girls in Y12 and 13 who were interested in careers in midwifery or nursing. She talked through her 30 year career, gave brilliant advice on interview techniques, talked about the wealth of opportunities within the NHS and worldwide (she worked for two years as a midwife in Australia, for example), and told some stories of really memorable deliveries she's had from over the years.
The girls found it both inspiring and highly useful.
