Year 12 and 13 Politics students, along with the Head Girls and Deputy Head Girls, welcomed Newcastle North Member of Parliament and Sacred Heart alumni, Catherine McKinnell to the school.
Students enjoyed a special Question and Answer lesson with Mrs. McKinnell, with discussion ranging across a wide range of topics, from foreign relations with the Middle East, the constituency work of MPs, the work of the House of Commons Petitions Committee that Mrs. McKinnell chairs, the tumultuous recent years in British politics, and many other issues.
The students were extremely engaged and overwhelmingly enjoyed the opportunity to speak with a democratically elected politician, who has helped to give them a greater understanding of the subject they are studying.
