Nine students from Years 7, 8, and 9 attended the Barclays Go Lead event this month at Walker Dome. The event focused on leadership, teamwork, and advocacy for girls' football. Throughout the day, the students participated in activities designed to build confidence and leadership skills. They delivered sessions to one another, learning how to communicate effectively and support their peers. The event encouraged them to step up as role models and inspire others to get involved in football.
A key outcome was the creation of an action plan to increase girls' participation in football at school. The students identified barriers and developed practical solutions to make the sport more inclusive. Their plan includes raising awareness, organising sessions, and creating a supportive environment for all girls interested in playing.
As newly recognised leaders, these students are committed to implementing their ideas and encouraging girls to join football. Their dedication to promoting girls' football will have a lasting impact on our school community. We are proud of their hard work and look forward to seeing the positive changes they will bring.
