This term, two of Sacred Heart’s Year 12 students, Poppy Watkins and Evie Wilkinson, participated in a special pilgrimage to Lourdes in France, with Hosanna House and Children's Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT). They travelled alongside students from St Thomas More, another school in the Bishop Bewick Trust, to support young children with disabilities or those facing hard times at home.
During their time in Lourdes, Poppy and Evie led the children in arts and crafts activities, music sessions, and group games - providing emotional support and companionship. They also assisted with daily routines, ensuring each child felt included and valued.
The pilgrimage itself included visits to sacred sites and participation in religious ceremonies, offering spiritual enrichment. Poppy and Evie found the experience deeply rewarding, witnessing the transformative power of care and compassion. The girls were extremely grateful to be given this opportunity to make friendships that will last a lifetime and to carry with them the strength, bravery, and hope they witnessed from all the incredible young people they helped!
