The aim of the trip was to prepare the students for their Paper 3 GCSE Geography paper by giving them the opportunities to collect their own primary data which later they will collate, analyse and evaluate.
To do this, students measured the width of the river with a tape measure and divided it into regular intervals. At each interval, students would take a measurement of the depth of the river and then collect a sample of sediment from the river.
The purpose of the data collection was to test two hypotheses which directly relate to their river studies from Y10. The students also had the opportunity to conduct environmental quality surveys and questionnaires to discover the impacts of tourism in Keswick.
