This month, we have been celebrating the monumental milestone of 180 years since the Sacred Heart Society was established in England! Part of these celebrations has focused on our Goal of Community and how we can create a supportive community based on love, kindness and respect.
As a school, we have been raising money towards building a Sacred Heart Educational Centre in Eldoret, Kenya. Building this school will mean that students grow up with the necessary skills to go on to secure jobs, which will help benefit the economy in Eldoret.
We have hosted three Lip Sync Battles, with the Grand Final to be held on Thursday 13th July. Lip Sync Battle is a talent competition, where both staff and students impersonate a singer or band, putting on a performance to wow the audience. Students have put an exceptional amount of effort into their performances, working hard to choreograph their own dances.
We have sold over 1350 tickets across three shows and hope to reach £1000 in funds raised by the time we reach the Grand Final.
Each round saw a student from Year7, 8, 9 or 10, picked by a panel of Sacred Heart Goals Ambassador Judges, to make it through to the Grand Final. The winners will be crowned Sacred Heart’s first ever Lip Sync Queens! The teachers have also battled it out, to win the Teacher Lip Sync crown, with three acts from the staff also making it through to the Grand Final.
We are so proud of all the students who have taken part, as well as all the students who have donated to this cause and have come along to watch the shows. The community spirit around school has been electric and shows that every single student has the power to make a real difference to the lives of those living in our local and wider Sacred Heart communities.
