On Wednesday 25th January, Sixth Form Literature students enjoyed celebrating Burns Night with the English Department.
They have recently been studying the poetry of Burns and enjoyed learning about some of the traditional Burns Night rituals. The evening kicked off with the Selkirk Grace and of course Address to a Haggis, at which point students were given the chance to try the traditional Scottish delicacy.
Students then participated in a recital of Burns' poetry, with one student even reciting a poem by heart in Gaelic! We 'toasted to the lasses' and members of the English Department gave a demonstration of the popular country dance 'The Gay Gordons'.
