Ladies FA Cup Final - Wembley

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

On Sunday 15th May 35 students from Sacred Heart enjoyed a visit to the Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium with four members of the PE staff.

We set off at 6.30 am in a luxury coach used for Newcastle United First Team to Wembley Stadium. This was so exciting for all the girls when they arrived to see the coach waiting at the Fenham Hall Drive entrance to school! The girls enjoyed food on both the outward and return journey as well as refreshments. We arrived at Wembley at 12 noon and were able to enjoy lunch prior to going to watch the final. We had very good seats just above the dugouts so very close to the pitch and in view of the substitutes warming up throughout the game.

Chelsea started the match on the front foot, much more superior in their warm up which we had a perfect view of from our seats. The game itself was very close and finished 2-2 after 90 minutes. The match then went to extra time which saw Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert score an excellent goal to win the trophy. The celebrations after the game were amazing to watch. Fireworks were organised whilst Chelsea were celebrating their trophy to the crowd.

We left Wembley at 6.00 pm and after one stop on route arrived back to school at approximately 11.15 pm. The behaviour and attitude of all the students throughout the day was exemplary. They all enjoyed the whole experience and the highlight no doubt being their travel on the NUFC first team coach!
