This February marks the second year of lower school Culture Day; aligned with the Sixth Form Culture Week this year, the event was a wonderful way for the whole school to come together to celebrate the diversity of our community!
We were inundated with groups of students hoping to take part in our dance showcase, with thirteen groups practising tirelessly to perfect their routines for the big day. All those who initially signed up for Culture Day were able to wear their traditional dress all day, to fly the flag for their heritage. We also had a number of students support the Craft Fair in the Chapel, where anyone could come along and make flags, bracelets, and origami, or to practise their henna skills.
The dance showcase was a huge success; the performers were seamless in their transitions, receiving deafening cheers from the audience at every opportunity. Ticket sales also raised £189.21 for St Cuthbert’s Care!
The enthusiasm from students was so impressive, that we are hoping to round off our culture celebrations in 2025 with a Key Stage 3 dance showcase in the summer term.
