My Future, My Choice is a careers event organised by Newcastle City Council that was hosted at St James’ Park this month. Sacred Heart was invited to bring our Year 9 and Year 11 students to meet and talk with employers, training providers and support organisations.
420 students took up the offer and enjoyed networking with the biggest companies, universities, colleges and public services in the North East. Presentations from guest speakers outlined the wide range of opportunities available to our students. They heard about many different career journeys and the personal experiences of current apprentices working in the energy industry. Support organisations outlined provision that will enable all of our students to achieve their dreams in the city.
The event lasted just over 90 minutes and many students commented on how they wished they could have spent the entire day there. We were also delighted to receive emails from organisers expressing how engaged, prepared and enthusiastic our students were.
