Rotary Young Chef 2023

The Food & Nutrition department held the annual school heat of the Rotary Young Chef competition on Wednesday 25th January. The standard of proposed menus was so high that we increased the number of students cooking in the school heat from 8 to 15.

Fifteen students from year 7 to year 10 competed to go through to the Local Finals in February. The students prepared 3 dishes in 2 hours. The judges were taken on a cultural journey around the world with food from Thailand, Libya and Iran to name a few!

Once the students presented their dishes, Mrs Denton and Miss King had the hardest judging on record as the standard and effort from all students competing was so high.

The two winners were:

  • Tiana Shek Y10

  • AG Y9

Runners up:

  • GO Y7MLE

  • Anna Kunnel Y9

The judges would like to pass on our congratulations to all 15 students competing. They were professional, calm and creative in the kitchen and demonstrated fantastic culinary skills. Well done to all. Look out for announcements next year if you would like to get involved.
