RSC FIRST ENCOUNTERS: YEAR 10 STUDENTS SET TO PERFORM ROMEO AND JULIET ON STAGE WITH THE ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY

We are delighted that the Royal Shakespeare Company’s touring production of First Encounters: Romeo and Juliet will be performed at Sacred Heart on Tuesday 5th March.  Not only will the performance take place in our very own auditorium, but it will also feature a group of our Year 10 Drama students, who will perform alongside the professional cast.

A gate-crashed party. A chance meeting. Love at first sight. This 90-minute version of Romeo and Juliet, edited by Robin Belfield and directed by Philip J Morris, uses original language to create the perfect introduction for young people and their families. Making Shakespeare's star cross'd lovers relevant for a new generation of theatregoers.

'My bounty is as boundless as the sea. My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have for both are infinite.'

When Romeo meets Juliet, the world around them melts away. But then reality kicks in; their families are enemies, and they will never be allowed to stay together. With the world against them, they hatch a plan to escape the lives they were born into. But fate has other ideas.

Tickets are available to purchase on the school website and are priced at £6.
