On 8th November, students from a range of year groups performed in our 2023 Senior Recital Evening. This is an annual event that enables students studying GCSE and A level music to share their progress with others as well as close friends and family.
It was a fantastic experience to see so many young people participating in the musical life of Sacred Heart and being so encouraging of each other, especially when coping with nerves, as for some students it was their first solo performance. I think that the supportive atmosphere definitely helped to increase confidence among those who were apprehensive.
We had a rehearsal with the accompanist beforehand and it was wonderful to see how hard everyone worked to produce a polished performance that encompassed a range of styles, from jazz to folk and classical.
It was also an opportunity for students to contribute to their music exam performances for GCSE and A Level.
