We are proud to welcome sixteen Year 12 students onto our established Peer Supporter Programme, aimed at building positive relationships with Year 7 students. Peer Supporters are there to guide, listen and support Year 7 students through their first year at Sacred Heart, helping them overcome any issues they may encounter.
Students were invited to submit an application detailing why they wanted to be a Peer Supporter, and the successful sixteen applicants attended a full-day training session on Friday 20th September at the Sacred Heart Sisters’ House in Fenham. Training was delivered by our school counsellor, Caroline Williamson and our Chaplain, Maria Vare and activities included effective questioning, active listening, safeguarding and confidentiality.
Each student will now be assigned a form class to work with during registration and we wish them every success in their new and very important role.
