Smart Futures: Exciting Achievement for Year 12 Students

Ernst and Young is one of the largest professional services networks in the world, providing assurance, financial auditing, tax, consulting and advisory services to its clients.

Nine students in our Year 12 have secured places on the coveted Ernst and Young (EY) Smart Futures business work experience programme this Easter and will complete two weeks of paid work experience at the EY Newcastle office, which is the second largest EY office in the UK.

Funded by the EY Foundation, the programme is packed with interactive sessions designed to increase employability and allow students to acquire new skills and broaden horizons.

They will work with a team at EY or one of their corporate partners, getting hands-on experience in the world of business and doing the same work as employees: pitching to clients, creating marketing campaigns and supporting entrepreneurs with their business needs. The work experience also includes one to one mentoring, a graduation event and a management accreditation.

There were only 20 places available for this programme across the region and all applicants were required to complete an application form and then take part in a very competitive interview process. As successful candidates, they can now look forward to an exciting two weeks experiencing the real world of business right here in the North East.
