On Wednesday 25th September, several year 7 students got the chance to meet some of the astronomers from Kielder Observatory and experience their planetarium here in school. There were lots of oohs and awwws as the Kielder astronomers, Adam and Ellie, took us on a tour of our night sky, sharing stories about the constellations we can see.
This is the third year that Sacred Heart are working with the observatory and this was the introduction to our brand new Space Club that will begin on the 12th November after school in GS4 for Year 7s. Students will get the chance to take on the role of astronauts to plan, prepare and explore our solar system over a number of sessions. We will also hopefully get the opportunity to go and visit the observatory ourselves and use their telescopes later in the year.
