Since October a group of Year 7 students have been coming along every Tuesday night to Star club run in conjunction with Kielder Observatory. They have looked at star constellations, the scale of the Universe, made their own meteorites from clay, investigated how plants would grow in Martian soil, built spectroscopes, designed their own aurora and last week made their own astronomical Christmas decoration ready to hang on their Christmas trees. We have a few more weeks left of the project with Kielder running after Christmas and a telescope from the observatory to build and use. Hopefully next year we will also get to visit the observatory too!
