The Goal of Personal Growth

This year our Sacred Heart Goal is personal Growth.

Personal growth is the ongoing process of understanding and developing yourself in order to achieve your fullest potential.

Personal growth and development provides us with both the incentive and the means to become the best possible version of ourselves.

Personal growth is all about stepping out of comfort zones, which is where our "be bold, be brave, be you" tagline has come from. It is about students being able to use their gifts and talents to explore who they are and to realise their true potential.

Look at the picture of the plant growing from the soil. This reminds us that growing takes time, similar to how plants grow slowly. It's like a lesson in patience and progress. This idea tells us to accept our growth journey and remember that learning happens everywhere, not in just class. It's like a reminder to keep on learning and changing. Seeing a tiny seed become a bigger, beautiful, healthy plant shows us we could improve and change. It's like a sign we have lots of potential.

Studies have shown that individuals who prioritise their own growth and development are likely to be more successful, happier, and healthier.

We want you to focus on your sense of ‘character’ so you can flourish as a whole person. This means, the person you are destined to become – the best version of yourself.

Our focus this year is:

  • Allow yourself to make mistakes, it is all part of our process of growth and learning. Don't shy away from the subjects we find difficult, but focus on bettering ourselves, by accepting help from our peers, teachers and study clubs.

  • Do not compare yourself to others, we are all on our own journeys with different circumstances and backgrounds. Focus on your own happiness and how you can reach your goals.

  • Part of our personal growth is also focusing on our attitude towards other people. Above all things, you must always be kind to others, that is a massive mantra within our school, we look after each other here and want the best for one another.

  • Find your passion. Find something that you love or enjoy doing and make it a focus within your life. Focus on areas where you have clear strengths and achievement. This will make you feel more fulfilled every day.
