This November, students from across Key Stage 3 came together to challenge themselves to design and build a wind turbine. Working with an outside team from educational charity Smallpeice Trust, the student teams were tasked with designing, budgeting for and building model wind turbines using design principles and techniques used in industry. Throughout the process, the budding engineers delved into the world of wind energy, learning how turbines harness the power of the wind to generate electricity. The hands-on experience not only enhanced their technical skills but also their ability to work collectively towards a common goal. At the end of the day, they presented their design and model to their fellow students. The showcase not only highlighted their newfound knowledge but also the passion they had as the next generation of engineers.
