In March, the Year 12 English Literature class embarked on an unforgettable trip to London. With a packed itinerary full of theatre, food, and shopping, we made the most of every moment in the capital. With the sun blazing down, and armed with only paper maps, we raced in two groups from Trafalgar Square to the National Theatre- the race across the river!

After the race, we took some time to refuel with a well-earned meal before heading for our first theatre experience. Our next stop was the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse: an intimate, candlelit theatre that transports you back to Shakespearean times. We were there to watch Cymbeline, a lesser known but fascinating play. The performance was absolutely incredible—the acting, the atmosphere, and the storytelling kept us all captivated from start to finish.
After the play, we enjoyed a leisurely walk to Wagamama’s, where we indulged in some delicious food. With full stomachs and plenty of laughs along the way, we then made our way back to the National Theatre for the evening performance of Alterations. The production was stunning—engaging, thought-provoking, and a fantastic way to round off the evening. Once the show ended, we took the Tube to our hostel, ready to recharge for another busy day ahead.
The next morning, we were up bright and early for some shopping in Covent Garden. From stories of Mrs. Perry’s life in London, to having our hands full of bags, we travelled back to King’s Cross tired but with happy faces to hop on the train back to Newcastle. The trip was an incredible experience—full of culture, fun, and unforgettable moments.
