In February two year 8 classes participated in a series of interactive virtual lessons and an in-person workshop led by industry professionals as part of a project to celebrate the life and works of the renowned English composer William Byrd, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his death.
The workshops were led by award-winning creative practitioner James Rhodes and the choir Horizon Voices, and explored themes of human emotions, creative activities for wellbeing and engagement with the compositional style of William Byrd, linking in with our Sacred Heart Goal for the year; Personal Growth.
This provided an excellent opportunity for our students to experience working with professional composers and singers, and greatly enhanced their understanding of how music and poetry interact with the act of singing.
