This month, fifteen Year 8 students had the opportunity to attend one of NE1 Can's brilliant career workshops with the Esh Group; this is one of the region's leading privately-owned construction, development and property services businesses.
The afternoon started with an informative talk about how this local company has grown and details of the vast array of career opportunities on offer including civil engineering, project management and quantity surveying to a name a few. Four members of ESH then rotated on a carousel telling students all about their career experiences and students were able ask questions. We also donned high vis vests and got the opportunity to view the current Tyne bridge restoration works, which will take until 2028 to complete!
Once we returned to the office, students were given a sustainable design task to tackle. They had to re-design existing products to improve them in some way and the ideas generated in such a short space of time were fascinating: well done Year 8.
