We are thrilled to share the highlights of the recent Year 9 Ski Trip to Les Menuires, France, which took place this month. It was an incredible experience filled with excitement, camaraderie, and plenty of sunshine and snow!
A Journey of Adventure
Our adventure began with an early morning departure, as the students and staff eagerly boarded the plane for the flight to the French Alps. The students were in high spirits, chatting about the week ahead, and making new friends as they prepared for the slopes. After a long but comfortable journey, we finally arrived at our Skibound hotel (Le Skilt) in Les Menuires – a beautiful, picturesque resort nestled in the heart of the 3 valleys ski area.
On the Slopes

The next day, it was straight to the slopes! The students were divided into 3 groups; the groups stayed together initially so that beginners could receive extra support from expert instructors. In no time at all a group of students with a little more confidence and for some, a need for speed, was formed and they headed off for the higher slopes with Laurent (aka James Bond!). Everyone made amazing progress, with all students conquering their first Blue runs by the end of the week! It was wonderful to see so many overcoming fears and gaining confidence in a new sport. They all developed resilience and self-confidence, skills and attributes that we hope will last a life time.
The ski instructors were fantastic, ensuring each group received the guidance they needed, while also making the lessons fun. The students were soon carving up the slopes with ease and enjoying the stunning Alpine views.

In addition to skiing, the students enjoyed a range of activities designed allow them to see the area they were staying in and experience the culture as a group. After a day on the mountain, there were exciting evening activities, including a trip to La Mine (Winter rail toboggan), Mr Stapleton's Quiz, a surprisingly creative fashion show and fireworks. The students had the opportunity to bond with their peers, take in the breath-taking surroundings, and experience the unique culture of the region.
Team Spirit and Memories

One of the most rewarding aspects of the trip was the sense of team spirit and friendship that flourished throughout the week. Whether skiing side by side on the slopes; helping each other with equipment; getting up again after falling; or sharing laughter during group activities, the students truly embodied the values of collaboration and sportsmanship.
There were also plenty of memorable moments: the group awards ceremony at the top of Roc1; the birthday celebrations and the fireworks; and the celebratory evening gatherings. It was during these evenings that the group were able to reflect on the achievements of their day and receive awards for their kindness and resilience.
A Big Thank You
