YEAR 9 STUDENT WINS LIT AND PHIL WRITING COMPETITION!

Mashal Khalid, Year 9, has won the prestigious Lit and Phil annual writing competition.  The competition brief was 'My Favourite Place', and Mashal was commended for her dark twist on this theme.  Mashal was up against students from schools across the North East, and won first prize in the fiction category!

Mashal said of her experience:  'The Lit & Phil library is a great place filled with knowledge and has a very old, historic, fairytale feel to it. The workshop I took part in to prepare for the competition truly helped with my writing skills and helped me gain my inspiration for my story. Entering the competition helped me share my writing publicly for the first time; for me to win is truly shocking and astounding!  Believe in yourself - you can do it!'
